Album Notes

from book centerfold: All songs recorded between May 2006 and November 2007. The acoustic songs are harp /guitar/vocals on one track, somewhere between the first and fourth take. Some minor overdubbing of backing vocals, or claps to distract, exist on some tracks. Most tracks were recorded very quickly, generally over two hours, or in one sitting. Music was written for lyric, and vice versa. Lyrics to “read the territory” are circa 1997. “pickin the times” written over 2004-2006 .The coda on “fire (fueled)” appeared on Trends in American Cinema (2000). All other lyrics written during 2006-2007. An answering machine message by Jonny Junk is featured on “live watt killer.”

from book back page: Programming and playing by simpleton. Sound traveled through RadioShack microphones, hohner harps, a yamaha MTX800 4-Track recorder, the tough guy drum kit, my pawn shop practice amp, various cords and adapters, a usb keyboard, and my (nee anthony’s) alvarez 6 out of 12-string acoustic guitar. Eventually recorded in various versions of Garageband. Featuring a few unauthorized samples.
